Among Americans born between 1981 and 1996 — a.k.a. millennials — 61% get political news from Facebook in a given week, versus 37% who get it from local TV. A new Pew Research poll finds that’s also the inverse of how that divide looks for baby boomers – 60% get news from local TV.

INSTANT ARTICLES

Facebook has partnered with The New York Times, BuzzFeed and 7 other news media companies to launch a new feature that will allow those companies to publish articles directly to the Facebook platform. It’s called “Instant Articles” and is a new way to access news via social media.

MOBILE AUDIENCE RISES

For news outlets, it’s a mobile world. More readers now come from mobile devices than computers for 39 of the top 50 digital news sites. Growth in mobile ad spending outpaced all other platforms, influencing publishers’ decisions on a wide range of editorial and advertising strategies, according to a new Pew Research Center study.
