MORE CUTTING CORD ON HOME BROADBAND

Americans continue to shun home broadband and use mobile phones instead for Internet access, survey results released this week by the Pew Research Center finds.  The survey also found that 80% of U.S. adults had Internet access this year, whether through a smartphone or a home Internet connection, up from 78% two years ago.

TECH UPDATE

Google launched a wireless phone service Wednesday that will charge $20 a month for talk, texts and $10 per gigabyte of data used each month. The service initially will work only on Google’s latest Nexus 6 phones.

MIRROR, MIRROR

Who’s the best mobile phone carrier? Verizon remains on top, just edging out AT&T. But small carriers Sprint and T-Mobile are making solid progress at third and fourth place.  All four showed major progress in quality, according to RootMetrics.
