Bridge Ratings has released its latest version of its “Favoriteness” index of media usage.  While radio remains popular, competition from other digital media is having a major impact. Since 1998, the percentage of younger listeners saying radio is their most favorite media dropped from 84% to a projected 35% by 2019.

MOBILE AUDIENCE RISES

For news outlets, it’s a mobile world. More readers now come from mobile devices than computers for 39 of the top 50 digital news sites. Growth in mobile ad spending outpaced all other platforms, influencing publishers’ decisions on a wide range of editorial and advertising strategies, according to a new Pew Research Center study.

Farmland Movie

Wednesday night the movie “Farmland,” directed by James Moll, with major support from the U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance, premiered in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with National Ag Day celebrations. “Farmland” has a deal with D&E Entertainment for the film to be distributed to 60 major market theaters beginning May 1.

A new study from Deloitte finds that teens and young twenty-somethings spend more time watching movies and television shows on their computers, smartphones and tablets than they do on their TV screens. Other individuals still view TV mostly by the old-fashioned way – on TV.

Nielsen says audio/video streaming in general is surging. Nearly 80% of the population say they have listened to music online in the last year. The week ending Nov. 9, 2014, marked the first time since Nielsen started tracking streaming in 2004 that total streams have surpassed 4 billion in one week.
