EPA BOOSTS AMOUNT OF ETHANOL IN GASOLINE SUPPLY

REFINERY REOPENS

BP has restarted a large distillation unit at a refinery outside Chicago that broke down on Aug. 8 and caused a jump in gasoline prices across the Midwest.

RFS HEARING

 Over 250 stakeholders in the Renewable Fuel Standard testified at a public hearing in Kansas City on Thursday, most of them corn farmers and ethanol producers who say the EPA is setting standards lower than the law requires.

RFS HEARING

The Environmental Protection Agency is holding a hearing in Kansas City, Kansas, on its proposed Renewable Fuel Standard volumes for 2014 through 2016. Farm Bureau members from Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois will be providing in-person testimony at the hearing.

GASOLINE DEMAND

Weekly gasoline demand kicked off the summer driving season at the highest level since 2007. The Memorial Day weekend brought the lowest prices in 5 years, according to GROWMARK Energy.

Transportation Coalition

Transportation for Illinois coalition in Springfield today presented its funding source for a capital plan.  It includes higher fuel taxes, ending ethanol credit. The coalition wants to raise the state gas tax 4 cents, diesel tax up 7 cents, plus raise vehicle registration fees and tax repairs & oil changes.

FUEL PRICES

Agricultural producers in wide parts of the country are experiencing an easing in gas and diesel prices not seen in years. Gas prices for this time of year are the lowest since 2010 when they ran well under $3 per gallon. Diesel fuel is at its lowest price since 2012.
