FSA ELECTIONS

USDA will begin mailing ballots to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country for the 2015 FSA County Committee elections on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015. Producers must return ballots to their local FSA offices by Dec. 7, 2015, to ensure that their vote is counted.

FSA COMMITTEE

U.S. Senator Dick Durbin today announced that USDA has named Jill Appell of Altona, Illinois to be Chair of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Illinois State Committee. Ms. Appell farms in Knox County. Ms. Appell replaces Darell Sarff of Chandlerville, Illinois.

ARC/PLC DECISION

FARM BILL IMPLEMENTATION

House Agriculture Committee members said at a hearing on Thursday they are worried about USDA’s implementation of certain crop insurance provisions in the five-month old 2014 Farm Bill. At the same hearing, members on the General Farm Commodities and Risk Management subcommittee applauded USDA’s Farm Service Agency for its timely deliverance of livestock disaster assistance.
