McDonald’s hopes it has a catchy, new deal that will be as hugely popular as its Dollar Menu. Early next year, the fast-food chain will launch the “McPick 2” menu, which will let customers pick two of the following items for $2: a McDouble, a McChicken, small fries and mozzarella sticks.

McDonald’s plan to sell breakfast sandwiches throughout the day has delighted many customers, but the move risks exacerbating egg-supply woes in the U.S.  Crain’s Chicago reports restaurants and other food companies have already been struggling to get enough eggs following the worst outbreak of bird flu in U.S. history.

McDONALD’S WOES

Today’s Wall Street Journal reports pessimism has grown among some McDonald’s franchisees about the fast-food giant’s efforts to reverse lagging sales and rebuild its damaged image. The franchisees are not happy with recent actions, including plans to curtail antibiotic use in chickens.

McDonald’s Corp. announced today its U.S. restaurants will stop selling chicken raised with antibiotics that are important to human health. McDonald’s said it plans to make the changes over the next two years, working with its chicken suppliers, which include Tyson Foods.

A new Consumer Reports survey finds fast food may be in trouble. The survey, released on Wednesday, ranked regional chain In-N-Out-Burger the industry’s best hamburger chain, based on food quality, value and service. Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill was the No. 1 Mexican chain, followed by Chipotle, while Chick-fil-A ranked highest among chicken chains.
