PORK EXPORTS TO CHINA RISE

Smithfield Foods Inc., the world’s largest pork producer, increased shipments to China by 45% in the first half of this year, Chief Financial Officer Kenneth Sullivan said.

ADM EXPANSION

ADM announced today that it is investing in substantial improvements and expansions to its port facilities in Puerto San Martin in the Argentine state of Santa Fe, enhancing the company’s capability to export grain and other agricultural products from the region. The improvements are expected to be complete by early 2016.

WESTERN DOCK STRIKE

Lost sales for fruits, vegetables and meats totaled more than $400 million per week nationwide in December, estimates the Agriculture Transportation Coalition, a Washington D.C. based group that tracks ocean shipping issues. The costs continue to rise.

DDGs TO CHINA

Although China has rejected over 40 million bu. of corn shipments, China has ramped up its importation of DDGs from the US.
