MACY’S SELLS PART OF FLAGSHIP

Macy’s said Tuesday it will sell the top half of its State Street flagship store in Chicago for $30 million. The buyer plans to convert the space into offices. (Chicago Tribune)

CONAGRA MOVING TO CHICAGO

ConAgra is cutting about 1,500 jobs, or approximately 30% of its global, office-based workforce, and moving its headquarters to Chicago from Omaha, Nebraska, the company said Thursday. About 700 workers will be in Chicago starting next summer, including the company’s senior leadership.

SODA TAX FIZZLES

A long-stalled proposal to add a penny-per-ounce Chicago tax on soda and other sugary drinks got a hearing at City Hall on Wednesday, but it failed to gain traction amid a strong lobbying pushback and a lack of support from the mayor.
