@EPA TO SCRAP POWER PLANT RULE

EPA head Scott Pruitt today said he will sign a proposed rule to withdraw President Barack Obama’s Clean Power Plan, which mandated cuts in carbon-dioxide emissions from power plants. Pruitt, who plans to sign the proposal tomorrow, said the Obama-era regulation is illegal because it required states to change their overall power mix. (Bloomberg)

BIODIESEL KUDOS

EPA STRIKES AGAIN

The Environmental Protection Agency today released a draft rule to regulate carbon emissions from hundreds of fossil-fired power plants across the U.S. Coal-fired power plants currently produce 39% of the nation’s electricity. Plants fired by natural gas produced about 27%, nuclear plants 19%, and renewables including hydro, wind, and solar produced 13%.
