The U.S. Food & Drug Administration is giving restaurants and other food purveyors an additional year to comply with new rules that require calorie counts on menus. The new deadline in December 2016.

CUTTING CALORIES

The major U.S. soda companies set a goal to reduce by 20 percent the calories that each American consumes in beverages by 2025. Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper and Pepsi joined the American Heart Association and the Clinton Foundation in the initiative, says the American Beverage Association.
