IT’S PLANTING TIME

Traders say Brazil farmers are reportedly planting soybeans at a fast pace in Mato Grosso and Parana and corn in Parana and Rio Grande do Sul.  Some regions of Parana and Mato Grosso have seen only light rainfall, but most areas have good conditions.

SOUTH AMERICAN UPDATE

A topofficial from a Brazilian co-op expects the country’s corn acreage to shrink by -9.0% for the next planting season, but expects soybean acreage to expand by +8.5% next season.

ADM SHIPS FROM BRAZIL

The first loaded vessel has departed Archer Daniels Midland Company’s new export terminal in Barcarena, in the northern Brazilian state of Pará. ADM acquired the terminal in 2012. The company intends to expand the terminal’s capacity to 6 million tons by 2016.
