CONSUMER REPORTS AND GROUND BEEF

A new study from Consumer Reports, the organization known for investigating and rating all sorts of consumer goods from cars to countertops, found high levels of what they deemed “dangerous” strains of bacteria in American ground beef. But federal officials and the beef industry question the findings.

FOOD AND HEALTH SURVEY

36% of Americans ages 18 to 80 said “chemicals” are their top food safety concern followed by 34% who were concerned about food borne illness from bacteria, according to a 2015 survey which included responses from 1,007 people.

SUPERBUG RESEARCH

Researchers at Colorado State University are rolling out a series of projects to track antibiotic-resistant bacteria in the livestock industry, in an attempt to determine whether farm practices are fueling the rise of “superbugs.”

ANTIBIOTICS

Tonight at 9 p.m. Central, “Frontline” will broadcast a two-part hour on PBS that “examines widespread antibiotic use on American farms in food animals, then revisits a nightmare bacteria outbreak at the NIH,” according to publicity materials. Check your local listings
