IL FARMERS CASUALTIES IN TRADE WAR

Mexico’s decision to slap a 20 percent tariff on pork last week is bad news for Illinois farmers. “That this is not good news would be a tremendous understatement with Mexico being a primary pork export market for us,” said Mike Doherty, senior economist, IFB. “Any export of pork meat is going to include some of Illinois’ pork and that Illinois pork concentrates the value of the corn we grow.” (Illinois News Network)
