URBAN FARM TAX CREDIT APPROVED

The Illinois House has voted to allow tax breaks for those who take vacant land and use it for urban farming, with the hope of boosting the economy in the state’s low-income areas. Democrat Sonya Harper, Chicago, proposed the bill and said it also would help alleviate food deserts. (NPR Illinois)
