Despite ag groups’ pleas to maintain NAFTA, it’s becoming clear that the industry’s concerns about pulling out of the trade deal are barely registering with the White House. With the fifth round of talks set to begin next week, and the president repeating his intent to withdraw from NAFTA, farmers and agricultural organizations across the U.S. are aggressively defending the pact, meeting with lawmakers and admonishing administration officials.
