SEED COMPANIES JUMP INTO GENE EDITING

Monsanto and DuPont are betting that gene editing technology will help farmers increase yields, and hopefully, reset a long-running debate over genetically engineered seeds. Executives say they’re working to introduce the technology to consumers in a way that doesn’t stoke the same fears as earlier biotech advances. “There’s a big piece of this that is about explaining the benefits,” said Hugh Grant, Monsanto’s chief executive, during the Wall Street Journal’s Global Food Forum.
