NAFTA NON-STARTERS

Mexican and Canadian officials attending the fourth round of NAFTA talks – happening through Tuesday in Arlington, Virginia – are grappling with a list of increasingly difficult demands from U.S. negotiators. Last week, the U.S. proposed the trade deal expire every five years unless trading partners agreed to extend it, and asked for the lion’s share of automotive manufacturing. The U.S. also wants to revamp the dispute mechanism and restrict outside access to government contracts. (Reuters)
