The number of #Illinois students leaving the state to pursue a degree keeps going up. According to the State Journal-Register, between 2000 and 2014, the number of freshman students leaving Illinois to attend college jumped by 64%. Only New Jersey exceeded Illinois in students’ out-migration. Preliminary enrollment data, released in the last few weeks, shows the state’s budget impasse may have accelerated the exodus.
