ILLINOIS AG PROJECTS TO RECEIVE GRANTS

Ten ag-related projects that are trying to expand the availability of fresh, locally-grown produce in Illinois will be sharing $550,000 from the Illinois Department of Agriculture. The money, which comes ultimately from the federal Specialty Crop Grant Program, will go to projects addressing issues including the best produce washing and handling techniques for farmers and giving low-income residents access to fresh produce.
