Two years after heavy rains decimated fields, the 2017 Illinois pumpkin crop is looking better than average. “We got started in early July this year, so a good, early start,” said Jim Ackerman, an agriculture manager at Libby’s in Morton. “We’re about half done with harvest, so that’s a good place to be.” (State Journal-Register)
