HOW FAST IS TOO FAST?

To keep up with international competitors, the U.S. poultry industry is looking to increase line speeds at slaughter plants across the country. “It has proven safe for the safety of our workers and is has benefited American consumers as well,” said Tom Super, spokesperson for the National Chicken Council. Critics say the increased speeds are not only dangerous for workers, but also inhumane for chickens. (NPR’s The Salt)
