GIPSA RULE DIVIDES MEAT PRODUCERS

The USDA’s announcement Tuesday that it would dismantle an Obama-era rule protecting farmers who raise poultry, cattle and hogs under contract to large meat companies is putting companies, and the farmers who grow for them, at odds. The USDA said it was withdrawing the proposal, which was set to take effect today, over “serious legal and policy concerns.” (Reuters)
