CHIPPING AWAY AT THE BILL BACKLOG

Gov. Bruce Rauner today will go to the bond market to begin borrowing $6 billion to help pay down nearly $16 billion in overdue state bills. The state will seek a total of $1.5 billion in tax-exempt general obligation bonds today, followed by another $4.5 billion in bonds next week. (Chicago Tribune)
