PRECISION GENE EDITING A ‘GAME CHANGER’

Monsanto’s agreement this year to use CRISPR technology represents a key advancement in the world of crop improvements as it could provide a simpler and more precise tool for making targeted improvements in a cell’s DNA. “Precision (gene) editing is poised to deliver new improvements,” said Robb Fraley, chief technology officer, Monsanto. “Breeding has changed remarkably. We can now look at every gene in every seed. That’s a game changer. It will take us beyond what we’ve been able to do with GMOs.” (FarmWeekNow.com)
