BAYER, SYNGENTA FACE PRESSURE OVER NEONICS

Bayer and Syngenta are facing renewed pressure over their neonicotinoid-treated seeds after research funded by the companies found that the chemicals are responsible for harming some bee colonies. The study, published in the journal Science, found that bee colonies in Hungary and the U.K. had low survival rates when stationed next to fields grown with neonic pesticides. Numbers of bees in colonies in Germany were not adversely affected. (Bloomberg)
