@USDA Tuesday announced it had detected an atypical case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) in an eleven-year-old cow in Alabama. Atypical BSE generally occurs rarely and spontaneously in older cattle. USDA says the animal never entered slaughter channels and at no time presented a risk to the food supply or human health.
