TRUMP BUDGET TAKES ON WILD HORSES

President Donald Trump’s proposed FY18 budget suggests a solution for the wild horse population that has become a burden for the Bureau of Land Management: using “humane euthanasia and unrestricted sale of certain excess animals.” The proposal could lead to sales of wild horses to slaughterhouses in Mexico or Canada, as well as culling of herds. Horse and other animal advocacy groups condemned the plan, saying Trump is bowing to livestock interests who don’t want the animals competing for range land. (PBS)
