#Plant17 Progress – May 30

Corn planting reached 93% in #Illinois for the week ending May 28, lagging behind the 5-year average of 96%, while statewide, the average temperature was 63.0 degrees, 2.2 degrees below normal.

There were 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork for the week. 

Precipitation averaged 0.74 inches, 0.34 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 1% short, 74% adequate, and 25% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 1% short, 78% adequate, and 21% surplus.

Corn planted was at 93%, compared to the 5-year average of 96%. Corn emerged was at 80%, compared to 86% last year. Corn condition was rated at 3% very poor, 12% poor, 33% fair, 44% good, and 8% excellent.

Soybeans planted was at 62%, compared to the 5-year average of 71%. Soybeans emerged was at 38%.
