PINK SLIME DEFAMATION TRIAL TO BEGIN

Jury selection starts today in a more than $1 billion defamation case over ABC’s news reports on Beef Products Inc.’s (BPI) lean, finely textured beef product. BPI sued ABC in 2012 saying the network’s coverage of its product, dubbed “pink slime,” misled consumers into believing the product is unsafe, and led to the closures of three plants and layoffs of roughly 700 workers.
