#Illinois #Plant17 Progress – May 14

Corn planting reached 75% for the week ending May 14, while the amount of days suitable for fieldwork varied widely across the state. There were an average of 1.9 days suitable for fieldwork statewide.

Corn emerged reached 7%, compared to 61% last year and the 5-year average of 50%. Corn condition was rated at 3% very poor, 13% poor, 42% fair, 35% good, and 7% excellent.

Soybeans planted was at 23%. Soybeans emerged was at 6%.

Statewide, the average temperature was 62.7 degrees, 1.2 degrees above normal. Precipitation
averaged 0.91 inches, 0.06 inches below normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 57 % adequate and 43% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 1% short, 60% adequate, and 39% surplus.

Winter wheat headed reached 86%. Winter wheat condition was rated 7% very poor, 14% poor, 27% fair, 45% good, and 7% excellent. Pasture and range condition was rated at 3% poor, 13% fair, 59% good, and 25% excellent.
