The U.S. GDP expanded at a 1.2% annual rate from January to March 2017, better than the government’s initial estimate of 0.7% but far below President Donald Trump’s growth targets. Though disappointing, first quarter growth was due to strong consumer spending, business investment and state and local government spending. (News-Gazette)
