APPELLATE COURTS TO REVIEW AG-GAG LAWS

U.S. appellate courts are staying busy reviewing ag-gag laws in three U.S. states. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals already is hearing arguments about Idaho’s ag-gag law after it was struck down in 2015 for being unconstitutional; two more U.S. appellate courts may soon hear arguments relating to ag-gag laws in North Carolina and Utah. The laws, which are designed to protect farms from undercover reporting, are being challenged in all three cases by animal welfare and rights groups. (Food Safety News)
