AMERICA’S MEXICAN #MILK TRADE ON THE ROCKS

Despite spending the last week trading barbs with Canada, the Trump administration would be wise to keep an eye on dairy trade south of the border. Mexico, which is America’s No. 1 dairy importer, spent almost twice as much money as Canada did on U.S. dairy in 2016. But, because of its recently-rocky relationship with the U.S., Mexico increased imports of skim milk powder from the EU by 122 percent in the first two months of 2017, and is exploring trade talks with New Zealand.
