As farmers across the country look to offset input, production and energy costs, some are using farmland to install their own solar panels on their land, or renting out fields to solar companies to install panels. The spike in pressure on agricultural areas is forcing some states to enact laws which discourage the use of farmland for solar projects, or encourage solar projects on rooftops or contaminated sites.
