A group of advocates for plant-based drinks responded this week to dairy producers’ calls for a crackdown on the almond, soy and rice “milks” they say are clouding the meaning of milk. The Good Food Institute asked the FDA to allow terms like “milk” and “sausage” provided labels are modified to clearly state what’s in the product. Last month dairy organizations, with the support of lawmakers, asked the FDA to enforce guidelines on what can be called “milk.” (Associated Press)
