Mexican senator Armando Rios Piter, who leads a congressional committee on foreign relations, introduced a bill Monday that would force Mexico to buy corn from Brazil and Argentina instead of the U.S. Rios Piter said it’s a good way to send a message that “this hostile relationship has consequences.” Mexico is the U.S.’ second largest customer for corn, behind Japan.
