U.S. farmers and consumers have more to lose than Mexican farmers and business if President Donald Trump ditches NAFTA. Fruit growers who expanded into Mexico after NAFTA likely will not come back to the U.S. because of growing season and worker limitations, upping the cost of fresh fruit exported to the U.S. American farmers also stand to lose because corn, soybeans, pork, and dairy exported to Mexico can be bought from other countries cheaper once tariffs are imposed again.
