A recent Lee County Farm Bureau survey of farmers’ #nutrient and #environmental stewardship practices shows that virtually all of the county’s farmers employ some kind of nutrient management or conservation practice to protect the land and water. About 98% of farmers sample soils; 85% use grid-mapping to determine nutrient layout; and 21% utilize cover crops. About 50% have adopted at least three conservation practices, and nearly 85% use at least two. (Sauk Valley Media)
