The Iowa Supreme Court Friday ruled Des Moines Water Works cannot win damages from drainage districts in three northwest Iowa counties. The utility was seeking payments from the drainage districts, saying the counties allowed nutrients to run unchecked into the Raccoon River. Farmers in the affected counties feared the fines would be passed to them if the water utility won a damage award at trial. (Des Moines Register)
