Following the Oc. 18, 2016, closure of the Coliseum at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, three large horse shows moved their events to other arenas across the state. The closure could mean more than just fewer shows – it also could mean decreased revenue for the city of Springfield and the state of Illinois. Just one of the relocated shows had the potential to generate more than $2 million after factoring in hotels, restaurants and other tourism. (State Journal-Register)
