FOUR CITIES PASS SODA TAXES

Voters in three California cities voted to place a one cent-per-ounce tax on sodas and other sugar-sweetened beverages Tuesday. In Boulder, Colorado, voters passed a 2 cents-per-ounce tax. The ballots measures are aimed at tackling obesity and obesity-related diseases, including diabetes. The Cook County Board is set to vote on a similar measure today. (NPR’s The Salt)
