ENVIROS TAKE AIM AT COASTAL LIVESTOCK

The Environmental Working Group and Waterkeeper Alliance issued a report last week showing overhead photos of the flooding following Hurricane Matthew which damaged hog and poultry confinement facilities and caused small breaks in the walls of two manure lagoons. The groups say there are still too many animals in the state’s coastal plain, and that North Carolina should more tightly regulate where and how animal waste is stored. (NPR’s The Salt)
