DOWN FARM ECONOMY TO CONTINUE

The ongoing farm downturn could continue at least another year, which would impact farmers and others in rural communities. Farmers face the possibility of diminished returns for at least a third consecutive year, and support businesses, particularly in rural communities, also continue to grapple with reduced sales and tighter margins. “We have declining profits that are expected to be at this level for some time,” said Jason Henderson, associate dean and director of Purdue University Extension, at the National Agricultural Bankers Conference.
