DOWN-BALLOT RACES POPULAR

2016 was a popular year for “protest votes” or “undervotes” in the presidential election – in other words, hundreds of thousands of Americans voted in the down-ballot races, but failed to cast a vote for president, according to the Washington Post. In Nevada alone, more than 2.5% of voters did not vote for president – 28,863 ballots total. In California, nearly half-million ballots did not have a presidential pick.
