Lawmakers, along with those who work for them, say that phone calls to officials’ offices far outweigh social media interactions and emails when constituents are looking to voice their opinions, especially when a large volume of calls come into the office,  according to the New York Times. “It brings a legislative issue right to the top of the mind of a member,” said legislative staffer Emily Ellsworth.
