The World Health Organization is urging governments around the world to tax soda and other sugary drinks in an effort to get consumers to cut back on the drinks and slow the surge of obesity and diabetes. In its report, the World Health Organization points to systematic reviews of policies aimed at improving diet and preventing the lifestyle diseases, saying the most effective taxes appear to be in the range of 20 to 50%.
