Ag transportation experts indicate 99% of U.S. storage capacity has been utilized at this point, leaving many farmers and elevators to turn to temporary grain piles, alternative bunkers and ag bags to store the remaining crops. They indicated at this week’s U.S. Grains Council Export Exchange held in Detroit that shipping this year’s big crops shouldn’t be impossible. The barge industry added about 2,000 cover hoppers to its fleet while the rail industry invested about $30 billion in infrastructure improvements in recent years. See more at this link.
