This week, the Environmental Working Group unveiled a database of conservation program payments made to U.S. farmers. Similar to EWG’s database of subsidy and direct payments, the conservation payments database allows anyone to see both where and how much money was paid for conservation programs. The EWG is using the database to pressure lawmakers into tying farm safety-net payments to conservation practices. (NPR’s The Salt)
