SENATE HEARING QUESTIONS BAYER-MONSANTO MERGER

Top officials from Bayer and Monsanto answered questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday regarding the companies’ $66 billion merger. Committee Chair, Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, warned consolidation in the U.S. seed and agrochemical industry could hurt American farmers already reeling from low commodity prices, but officials from both companies insisted the deal would lead to greater investments in technology that would help American farmers.
