German lawmakers called on regulators to curb Bayer’s $66 billion buyout of St. Louis-based Monsanto Wednesday, highlighting the backlash Bayer faces on its home turf. Germany’s opposition Green Party called out the company, saying many Germans view Monsanto as a champion of genetically modified crops and a weedkiller they believe might cause cancer.
